Hello! This is Dillon McKinsey, and this page will tell you a little bit
more about me. I was born in Chicago, IL., but shortly thereafter,
my family moved back to a large family stock farm in North
Dakota. It was on that grand old farm that I grew up and fell in love with mother nature.
I rode horse over thousands of acres of native grasslands, crossing streams and verdant hills. In the Spring the wildflowers were everywhere. It was a wonderful place to be a kid. And it was here that my love for poetry was awakened and encouraged.
As an adult, I went on to college and eventually earned Masters Degrees in Clinical Pyschology and Public Administration, with post graduate studies in Conflict Resolution, Regulatory Administration, and nonprofit development.
All along, I kept reading great poets and writing my own poems, often about nature and remebrances from my farm days; but also about new experiences life was constantly bringing my way.
Over the years, my poems have been published in newspapers, magazines, national anthologies, even in the Wall Street Journal, of all places. Some have even won awards, both local and international. All have brought me great joy.
So, as a co-host of Writing on the Air, it is my mission to help others explore, fine tune and share their creative writing gifts. I hope you'll become a loyal and regular Writing on the Air listener, and that perhaps, in the future, our paths will cross.
